Cold - does it affect the baby ?

I have been suffering with a cold for nearly a week now, will this affect the baby ? I am 18 weeks pregnant.I have headache, earache, blocked up nose, my glands are up and sore and now i'm coughing. Please help, I am worried about the baby.

Get better soon, but luckily the common cold does not get passed to the baby, basically the placenta filters out the germs:)

However if you were not eating properly then this could over a po longed period of time be a problem.

For your blocked nose use vix, put a bit in a bowl of hot water, towel ove your head and inhale, worked brillant for me and vix is safe to use.

For your headache you can take paracetamol this is safe in pregnancy

For your ears I should think it related to he nose blockage, but once the nose is unblocked but your ears still hurt, use a piece of cotton wool with warm olive oil place in the ear and it helps soothe the ear, again very safe

Thank you so much for your help and advice. It really is very much appreciated. I try not to worry so much but its hard ! I am starting to feel better today. I am so thankful that it wont affect the baby and so thankful to you for your reply.
