Found out on Xmas eve that I'm pregnant taking various medications that my doctor advised me to stop however they never mentioned my omeprazole. Since Thursday have been experiencing stomach pain when eating and drinking. Can anyone tell me if its safe to take omeprazole it's 20 mg dose.

Thank u xx

Hi, I found out I was pregnant on the 22nd December, I'm taking omeprazole so stopped it until I'd seen doctor (although I did read the leaflet and it said its fine to take during pregnancy). Went to the doctors Monday and he said its fine to take it still :)

Hope that helps x

I had similar meds when I found out I was pregnant and Dr swapped them to Ranitidine instead.

This is a link to the NHS pages that say that it's OK to take that particular med, but I'd go Dr at the earliest opportunity:

I'm a staff nurse and am taking omeprazole whilst pregnant, was actually commenced on it due to pregnancy heartburn. It's absolutely fine to take, There are some other proton pump inhibitor drugs like pantoprazole which they aren't keen on you taking but omeprazole is fine and I have had no heartburn since I started taking it!
